FRONT ROW SEATS TO MOTHER NATURE'S PICTURE SHOW
Annual Gray Whale Migration Set To Swim Past Half Moon Bay
Background
HALF MOON BAY, CA (December 18, 2006) –
Every year, 15,000 gray whales head south from the Artic to Baja California. This year the Beach House Half Moon Bay encourages wildlife buffs to claim a front row seat to the swim fest and enjoy a casually decadent stay at the same time.
The all loft-style Beach House Hotel Half Moon Bay is located along scenic bluffs in the charming coastal town of Half Moon Bay, 30 miles south of San Francisco. The hotel is also located at Pillar Point Harbor, which is the launching point for whale watching boat trips led by the Oceanic Society since 1972.
Whale watching trips run every Saturday, Sunday and select Fridays throughout the season (December 29 -- through May 13, 2007). Trained naturalists lead the 3-hour excursions aboard the Salty Lady, a 56' motorized vessel with observation deck, indoor salon, and captain experienced in natural history cruises. During the cruise these experts give talks on gray whales and the conservation efforts that brought them back from near extinction. These cruises are open to adults ($45) and children ages 7 and up ($40). Trip reservations can be made by calling 415.474.0488.
The Beach House offers a comforting place to relax and rejuvenate after a slightly wet adventure. Guests enjoy cozy comforts of cushy pillows and inviting duvets, wood burning fireplaces in every room, separate sleep and living areas, board games in the lobby and great views from the bluff above the coastline. Weekend room rates range from $225 - $325 per night and reservations can be made by calling 800.315.9366 or visiting
